DUMBO Brooklyn Family and Anniversary Session | Derek and Stephanie

DUMBO Brooklyn Family and Anniversary Session | Derek and Stephanie
Four years ago, a good friend of mine asked me to shoot his wedding for him and his fiance’.  I had known Derek for years and I met Stephanie a littler earlier, and was very excited to shoot their wedding!  Before that, though, as I always encourage all my soon-to-be brides and grooms, we went out for an engagement session in DUMBO Brooklyn.  Engagement sessions are good not only to get cool photos you can use (think save-the-dates, invitations….facebook/instagram, lol), but also to get to know your wedding photographer, as well as for us to get to know you and your best angles.  So we met up in the afternoon and shot around until it got dark.  Their wedding was beautiful and fast forward four years: they now have two beautiful kids together!  That’s what brought us to this last photo shoot.  While I was in New York last month, Derek and I spoke about doing an anniversary/family shoot.  We came up with the concept, to recreate a couple of their photos from their engagement session…but not just recreate them, we wanted to add a little more.  We decided to remake their engagement session photos with their kids!  We walked around Brooklyn shooting their family session, and before we packed up we did a couple of photos that would look very very similar to anyone who saw their engagement photos…

Los Verdes Golf Club Wedding | Ashley and Kevin

Ashley and Kevin’s wedding was such a blast to photograph.  I met them up at the hotel for some getting ready photos and immediately I knew it was going to be a fun day.  You can just feel the energy of a group early on and know how the day will turn out.  After Ashley got her hair and makeup finished up, we headed over to the South Coast Botanic Garden for some wedding party photos and some photos of Ashley and Kevin.
Then we were off to Los Verdes Golf Course for their awesome ceremony and reception.  During the ceremony this huge marine layer cloud appeared behind them which made for an amazing backdrop.  And of course before I left for the night, I took Ashley and Kevin out for a night photo.  Night portraits are a nice touch that can set your wedding apart from other weddings you’ve seen at the same venue.  If you’re a future bride, definitely consider doing a short 5-10 minute session in the evening.
You won't regret it!
